Chef's Notes

Substitutions
Substitute mint leaves with basil or lemongrass.

Substitute grapefruit zest with lemon zest or orange zest if you’d like a bit of a sweeter flavor.

Making the Tea on the Stovetop
Add the water, mint leaves, and grapefruit zest to a stovetop saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and strain before adding the optional grapefruit juice and sweetener.

Using Dried Mint Leaves
Since dried herbs are more concentrated than fresh, you’ll need less. Use 1–2 tablespoons of dried mint leaves in place of ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves.

Store any leftover tea in a sealed container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days
